Kenda K761Tires

Hi everyone,

It’s been a while and I’ve been busy but not getting in alot of scooter time.   We had the Spokane Scoot the second week of September and that was a great time!  Scootin Old Skool wrote a good story about it!  I also changed work venues and now I commute to Post Falls every day and that makes a 60 mile commute every day.

What I’m writing about today is about the first commute on my new Kenda K761’s that I bought from Cycle Gear in Spokane Valley.   I chose the Kenda’s because of price and the tread design.   This was my 9000 mile service and when you get there you will know why I am out of money!  Kenda calls these tires Dual Sport and if I am going to try to commute 60 miles a dy thru NW weather I will need some dual sport!

My first ride was yesterday and my first impression was good.  I like the roundness of these and they feel more like a sport tire – of course I removed (9000 mile Sava’s from the front and a bald Zippy 1 from the rear) so it’s hard to know what to compare to.   My first freeway ride was this morning and because of the 38 degree cold I was far more concerned that my fingers were going to fall off than how my tires were doing.  So this is really about the 30 mile ride home at 4:30 in freeway traffic.   I like the way the track at 60+ but I did notice that there was a definite vibe or bumpiness (kinda like the metal grates on those bridges – if you know what I mean) going on when I exceeded the 65 mph but it didn’t seem any worse at 75 than 65.  I did keep the speed at 60-65 most of the time but had to get the led out a couple of times (up to 85).

I plan to keep this review going for a while cause I couldn’t find much in the way of reviews on these tires so we can learn this together!

Thanks for playin’

Thanks for listening…

Hi everyone,
Here I am sitting on the couch with my ears still ringing thinking about the miles I put on this weekend. Wife out of town and a reunion in the Tri-Cities made for a good excuse to get in some miles! Saturday late morning, 70 f or so, decent roads and 195 south to Colfax, mixed at 70 mph made for a peaceful ride and I love the 2nd looks I get from the low mileage 2 wheelers! Gassed down in the valley the headed west on 26 to Washtucna – bad tarmac (assfault)! Just oil over gravel and it felt like I was running with a flat rear tire! Still was able to run at 65 – 70, although I still don’t think the speedo is very accurate’ and made good time. South to Kahlotus, then to Pasco and by then I was runnin’ on the yellow fuel light – don’t know if I trust the gauge either but was sweating the idea of getting stuck out in the deserted farm land by Ice harber dam! Made it to Road 68 exit in Pasco at 3 hours and about 180 miles on the trip-o-meter.

To the Cities

Left Richland with 220 miles done and about 180 to go at 2pm Sunday, went against my wants and jumped on the freeway cause it was getting hot and I would rather over heat on the busy 395 than out on a deserted side road! Ran 70-75 mph up to the Lind exiot then took hwy 21 up to Odessa – more of the crappy oil / gravel for about 15 miles, but once I got past I90 the road cleared up and got fun! Lots of the other 2 wheelers out there and I was running at 70-75 while thanking God for giving us the Vespa! Odessa hides their gas but I asked a kid about it and he gave me the info so I gassed up and took hwy 28 around to Davenport – good road! As alway Hwy 2 was busy and people get mad when they are passed by a scooter, both times that I’ve been out there, I need to just quit riding out there! Made Spokane in about 3.2 hrs and it’s good to be home!

To Spokane

I will post some pictures soon! Also haven’t checked gas mileage yet either!

Thanks for listening!
